ABOUT ME

My name is Jenna. I am pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Behavioral Science. I am aspiring to be a Transpersonal Counselor when schooling is finished.

I was shaken awake by sexual abuse when I was five years old. I became fascinated with the little voice in my head (aka the ego), which helped me make decisions and drive my behavior.

Completing Basic Combat Training and serving in the National Guard for six years taught me that I had the ability to change my mind. I used the strength of my mind to help me through physically taxing obstacles (like a twelve-mile ruck march with 80 pounds strapped to my back with only a few hours of sleep the night before). Thus began my love of psychology.

After finishing my contract with the military, I started bartending and using substances. To be honest, that part of my life is a blur. I got shaken awake again after I ran out of substance and funds. I was finally forced to face the trauma I spent so long suppressing.

I started a job as a Behavior Treatment Technician providing Applied Behavioral Analysis Therapy with children diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder. I healed my inner child working with children. I learned emotional coping skills, by teaching them to children. I have learned so many important life skills.

I quit abusing substances and I made dramatic changes to my lifestyle such as; beginning a yoga practice, switching to a plant-based diet, and leaving a toxic relationship.

I created this blog as a way to improve my research and writing skills, share my interests, and plant seeds! Please feel free to give me constructive criticism on my work or any kind of feedback really!
